High-End Summer Shore Rentals Going Fast, Say South Jersey Real Estate Agents

STONE HARBOR, N.J. (CBS) -- It's that time of year again: time to think "summer" and getting that rental house down the shore.

Rental agents have been kind of busy lately, in spite of the frigid winter we've had around here.

For those searching for that perfect summer vacation getaway, the quest begins months in advance.

In Stone Harbor, NJ, Michael McCoy, with the real estate firm of Diller Fisher, says the higher-end properties are the most popular.

"Eight thousand and up per week," he estimates. "They're the ones that are getting gobbled up quickly because they're single family with in-ground pools."

But if you can settle for taking a dip in the ocean, there's still a lot available in more down-to-earth price ranges.

Realtors reported banner business last year, and early indications are this year will be better -- in part due to the harsh winter, the improved economy, and the ease of comparing offerings and booking a rental online rather than making a wintertime trek to the shore.

"They're looking at all the properties online," notes Doug Grisbaum of Berger Realty, in Ocean City, NJ.  "We have tons of pictures and videos, and we get a lot of bookings over the Internet."
