Heaviest Rain Over, But Scattered Thunderstorms Expected This Afternoon

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- It's been a soggy start for much of the Delaware Valley.

A large area of rain moved through during the early morning hours, and a while the heaviest of it has since moved east, a few leftover showers still remain. Anywhere from half an inch to an inch of rain has already fallen, with locally higher amounts. You'll have a quick chance to dry out though, as we expect these showers to fizzle by the late morning and midday.

We're not out of the woods yet though; scattered thunderstorms will begin to pop up this afternoon. With the atmosphere in a ripe state, a few of these storms could turn severe and present gusty winds, especially if any clearing occurs and allows ground warming to take place.

Skies begin to clear Tuesday night, and the remainder of the week looks dry and pleasant with warmer temperatures creeping back into the picture by the weekend.
