The Inspira Health Network is ending its collaboration with Philadelphia based Jefferson Health because things just didn't work out.

Inspira CEO John DiAngelo says it came down to competition:

"Our affiliation agreement with them was that, if in fact we were going to approach somebody within our service area, we would do that together," DiAngelo told KYW Newsradio. "They did not do that."

Jefferson struck a merger agreement with Kennedy Health earlier this week, subject to the approval of government regulators. Jefferson officials did not return a call seeking comment.

So how will this affect patients within the Inspira network?

"We will be able to continue to treat them locally, and when we can't we will still make the referral," DiAngelo said.

Patient dealings with Jeff doctors will continue at least until Inspira finds a new local partner, which he expects by the end of the year. DiAngelo wants to improve cancer and neuroscience treatment.
