HAZMAT Situation At Northeast Philadelphia School; 1 Injured

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – One person was hospitalized after a HAZMAT situation at a school in Northeast Philadelphia Tuesday night.

The incident was reported around 7:12 p.m. at The Arts Academy at Benjamin Rush in the 11000 block of Knights Road.

Officials say a water pump malfunctioned and exploded, sending fumes into the building.

A Philadelphia school police officer who came into contact with a refrigerant gas was taken to the hospital and released.

There were no evacuations.
