Hamilton Township Officer Injured During Foot Pursuit

HAMILTON TOWNSHIP, NJ (CBS) – Police in Hamilton Township, NJ say an officer responding to the scene of a crime was injured.

On Nov. 25th around 6:26 p.m., Officer Brian Miller responded to a shoplifting in progress at the Mays Landing Walmart.

Upon arrival, Officer Miller reportedly identified the suspect in the ACME parking lot.

That suspect fled from the officer and a foot chase that crossed over the Black Horse Pike and into the parking lot of the Hamilton Mall ensued.

Officer Miller was able to subdue the suspect and take him into custody, but during the incident, the officer suffered a broken arm.

The suspect was identified as 28-year-old Deanna Okojie, of Somerdale. She is being held in the Atlantic County Justice Facility on $35,000 cash bail.

Officer Miller was transported to AtlantiCare for treatment.
