Gunman Fires 28 Shots In Philly Execution-Style Killing

PHILADELPHIA (CBS)—A person is dead after police say a gunman killed a man execution-style, firing at least 28 shots in the city's Frankford section.

It happened around midnight in the 1400 block of Adams Ave.

At the scene, police found a 27-year-old man lying unconscious in the street suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to his face, chest torso and legs. He died at the scene.

"Based on ballistic evidence we know that a total of 28 shots were fired from a large caliber semi-automatic weapon. We found 28 spent shell casings around the victims body," said  Philadelphia Police Chief Inspector, Scott Small.

Investigators believe the gunman stood over the victim as they opened fire.

No suspect is in custody at this time. Witnesses say they saw a person running through a vacant lot off Adams Ave.

Anyone with any information is asked to call police.
