Gunfire In Southwest Philadelphia Forces Children To Run For Cover

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Philadelphia police are searching for the suspect who opened fire on a Southwest Philadelphia street.

The bullets went flying through a window, sending children running for cover.

Officers scoured the area looking for witnesses to the shooting, which began on the 2500 block of Millick Street.

Investigators say the intended targets were two men sitting outside.

Luckily, neighbors say children in the area had been warned of what to do in case of a shooting.

"They howled…the scream was devastating," the children's grandmother, Deborah Evans, said. "They got up, and then they ducked and ran in the kitchen and hid behind the refrigerator."

Residents say this is the second shooting in the area in recent days.

No injuries were reported.
