Guilty Plea Coming from Pa. State Senator LeAnna Washington

By Jim Melwert

NORRISTOWN, Pa. (CBS) -- A guilty plea is expected next week from Pennsylvania state senator LeAnna Washington, who is charged with using government staffers to plan campaign fundraising events.

Her lawyers, in court today, said they will meet on Monday to confirm the details and expect to formally enter Washington's guilty plea on Thursday or Friday of next week.

Washington, whose district covers parts of Montgomery County and Philadelphia, is now serving her final days in office after losing a re-election primary two months after she was indicted.

Neither her defense attorneys or prosecutors could say whether Washington is likely to face jail time in the case.
