Group Of SW Philly Residents March To City Hall To Demand Apology From Mayor Nutter

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Members of the Southwest Philadelphia community devastated by last weekend's fatal fire took their outrage to City Hall Wednesday evening.

A group of around 20, many marching from the site of the fire, demanding an apology from Mayor Nutter who was out of town. Patrick Sanyeah lost two of his children in the fire (see related story).

"We're here because the Mayor insulted us! That's all," Sanyeah said. "The Mayor went on TV and said we're dumb!"

The group says the Mayor insulted their intelligence by saying some of their outrage is based on misinformation and even lies. City Public Safety Director Michael Resnick says the 9-1-1 tapes are on their side.

"So, when I think the Mayor says their information is inaccurate, it's inaccurate compared to the factual, undisputable data that we were able to release."

Sanyeah also said, "he should put himself in my shoes, as a father," referring to the Mayor. Administration spokesman Mark McDonald says the Mayor expressed his condolences and the protesters were "speaking from a position of sadness."
