Groundbreaking Held For $65-Million Expansion at Kennedy Hospital, in Cherry Hill

CHERRY HILL, N.J. (CBS) -- Officials in Cherry Hill, NJ broke ground today on phase one of a massive expansion project at Kennedy Hospital.
Construction will begin soon on a massive parking garage and a new atrium. Kennedy Health System president Joe Devine (sixth from right in photo) says this first phase will cost $65 million.
"The overall goal is that this will revitalize the campus completely, to make this a true medical campus of innovation for the future," he said today.
Cherry Hill mayor Chuck Cahn (seventh from right) says the facility, built in 1960, really needs a facelift.
"For Kennedy to transform this site and this building into something that's going to be magnificent, we are just so excited," he said.
Cahn says the project is privately funded and no township money is going toward construction.
The total budget for the expansion and renovation plan is $200 million.
