Governor Wolf Orders Flags At Half Staff To Honor Slain Maryland Police Officer

HARRISBURG, P.A., (CBS) -- Pennsylvania Governor Tom Wolf ordered flags at half staff in honor of Prince George's County Police Officer Jacai Colson who grew up in Delaware County.

Colson died after a shooting near a police station in Landover, Maryland, just outside Washington DC. Officials are calling this an "unprovoked attack" on the station and Colson was killed during the shootout.

He played football and basketball at Chichester High School and made a big impact on his former administrators.

Academically, he was in the top 1/3 of his class," said Mike Stankavage, the Principal of Chichester High School. "He was a great kid in and out of the classroom; the type of kid I wish I could have cloned back then to have many many of that type of student."

Colson graduated from Chichester in 2005 and went on to Randolph Macon College in Virginia where he also played football.
