Gov. Corbett's Challenger In Republican Primary Knocked Off Election Ballot

HARRISBURG, Pa., (CBS) -- Governor Tom Corbett's challenger in the Republican primary later this month has been knocked off the ballot.
The state Supreme Court has overturned a lower court ruling that allowed self-described independent Republican Bob Guzzardi to remain on the GOP primary ballot.
Analysts viewed Guzzardi, from Montgomery County, as a conservative candidate who was a long shot to win, but who might have muddied Corbett and might have garnered enough votes to embarrass the incumbent.
His removal from the ballot now clears the path for Corbett to secure the Republican nomination.
Two members of the state high court dissented with the majority, saying they felt it was unfair to knock Guzzardi off the ballot due to late filing of financial documents, since he was given misleading instructions by a bureaucrat.
