Gov. Christie Nominates Judge To Fill Supreme Court Vacancy
TRENTON, N.J. (AP) — Gov. Chris Christie is attempting again to fill a long-standing vacancy on the state Supreme Court.
Christie announced Superior Court Judge David Bauman's nomination on Monday at a statehouse news conference.
Christie nominated Bauman in 2012, but he was not given a confirmation hearing.
If approved by the Democrat-controlled Senate, Bauman would succeed Mary Catherine Cuff.
She was appointed to temporarily fill the vacancy in 2012.
The appointment comes after Christie earlier clashed with Democrats over court nominations.
Christie says Bauman would bring the makeup of the court to four Republicans, two Democrats and one independent.
