GOP's Costello Beats Trivedi For 6th District Seat

HARRISBURG, Pa. (AP) — Republican Ryan Costello has defeated Democrat Dr. Manan Trivedi in suburban Philadelphia's 6th Congressional District.

The Chester County commissioner took the open U.S. House seat in Tuesday's election. Costello is a lawyer with experience in municipal and county government who campaigned on a promise to restore bipartisanship to Congress.

Trivedi played up his experience as a physician and former combat surgeon in the Iraq War. The Berks County resident tried unsuccessfully to unseat Rep. Jim Gerlach in 2010 and 2012.

Gerlach is stepping down when his sixth term ends in January.
