Golden Girls Themed Cafe To Open In NYC
By Chelsea Lacey-Mabe
NEW YORK, NY (CBS) -- A Golden Girls-themed cafe could be opening in New York this summer.
According to a Facebook post on "The Official Rue McClanahan Memorial Page," it's set to open at the Sofia Storage building on Broadway in Washington Heights.
Michael J. Larue, who reportedly runs the page, is thanking McClanahan for being a friend by giving the late actress her own restaurant. She died in 2010 at the age of 76.
Back in May, Larue shared a picture of the work permit for the cafe project.
In a Facebook comment he explained that some of the decor will be costumes worn by McClanahan in "The Golden Girls," where she played the promiscuous Blanche Devereaux, alongside Betty White, Bea Arthur and Estelle Getty.
No official opening date has been announced but the hope is to have it open by late-August or early-September.
Visiting the cafe may help those still not over the fact the Golden Girls Lego set never pieced together after the idea gained attention last year.
Not sure if fans could suffer that kind of blow again.
