GM Recalls Chevy Silverado and GMC Sierrra

By Jim Donovan: General Motors is recalling about 370,000 trucks because of a fire risk. The recall involves 2014 Chevy Silverados and GMC Sierra full-size trucks.

GM says the vehicles have problems with their computer software that could lead to the overheating of exhaust components and cause fires. Eight fires have been reported so far. One garage was damaged but fortunately no one was injured. All of the incidents occurred in cold weather.

The recalled trucks have 4.3-liter or 5.3-liter engines. GM says that drivers will be contacted about the recall by mail starting January 16th and dealers will fix the problem for free. In the meantime, GM urges owners of the trucks in question to "avoid leaving their trucks in idle unattended".
