Gloucester County EMT Give Kids Life-Saving Lessons For 'Take Your Kids To Work Day'

CLAYTON, NJ – This year for Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day the Gloucester County Office of Emergency Management gave employees' kids some life-saving lessons.

Several dozen sons and daughters of first responders and support staff learned how to call 9-1-1, crawl through a smoky room and stop drop and roll through a series of interactive exhibits.

Kids like Austin Eanes got to try on dad's tactical EMT gear.

"It kind of gives him a little sample of what I have to deal with on a daily basis," says Austin's father James Nikkels.

There were also K-9 and bomb squad demonstrations that few kids get to experience up close.

"We wanted to bring the kids to work today and make it an educational experience for them," says County emergency response coordinator Tom Butts.

The kids walked away with knowledge that could save lives – just like mom and dad.
