2-year-old girl reunited with family after car stolen in Northeast Philadelphia

A 2-year-old girl was reunited with her family after police recovered a stolen car with her inside in Northeast Philadelphia on Wednesday morning, according to police.

Video obtained by CBS News Philadelphia shows the heart-stopping moments when a man gets into a Toyota SUV and drives away with the vehicle's owner running and screaming at him as her daughter was in the back seat.

The woman was delivering packages for Amazon near the intersection of Unruh and Oakland avenues in the Oxford Circle section of Northeast Philadelphia. The suspect then rammed the SUV into a parked car, trying to get away.

A police source said the incident happened around 10:30 a.m..

Chopper 3 was over the scene of a butcher shop where police found the SUV and the girl at Magee and Castor avenues.

The daughter was reunited with her father, who said he ran to the scene. He said his wife still had the SUV's key fob in her pocket, which investigators say most likely prevented the car from leaving the area.

The girl's father said medics checked her out and is OK.

Detectives checked the SUV for fingerprints, hoping to identify the suspect.

No arrests have been made.
