1-year-old girl seriously injured after 2 dogs attack her inside Northeast Philly home

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- A 1-year-old girl is seriously injured after two dogs attacked her inside of an Oxford Circle home. Police say the incident happened inside of a home on the 2200 block of Brighton Street just before 12 p.m. Tuesday.

"It's scary," a neighbor said.

Nearly seven hours after a 1-year-old child was attacked by two dogs, investigators received a warrant to go inside the Northeast Philadelphia home along Brighton Street.

Detectives say just before noon the toddler was bitten throughout her body by the two dogs.

"It's a shame a baby was involved with it," a neighbor said, "and hopefully, it turns out all right."

Someone inside the home shot and killed the dogs.

The little girl was rushed to Jefferson Hospital. She was last listed in critical condition.

Neighbors told CBS Philadelphia that they do not know the people who live in the home very well.

"They always kept to themselves," one neighbor said, "The only times they brought the dogs out was basically, they walked them at 3, 4 o'clock in the morning on leashes."

Detectives spent about a half-hour inside the home until wrapping up for the night. They say they will continue their investigation.

Police are still looking to interview more people.

Police say a parent in the home was not cooperating with investigators.
