Get Ready For Some Summer Political Heat

By Larry Kane

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The summer season and its tranquility will soon be challenged in the battle for the biggest political prize in Pennsylvania. KYW Special Contributor Larry Kane shares his thoughts.

The fourth of July has passed, but the fireworks are just about to start between underdog Governor Tom Corbett and businessman Tom Wolf, who scored a landslide for the Democratic nomination.

Ironically it is Corbett's Republican House and Senate who left ammunition on the tables.

Education is the number one issue in Pennsylvania, but the lawmakers rejected the Philadelphia cigarette tax and once again the Philadelphia schools are in financial trouble.

Also left unfinished ... pension reform.

Corbett, down over 20 points, starts his ad blitz soon, portraying Wolf as an out-of-touch millionaire.

Wolf at first will keep it positive, but if necessary he will will highlight two issues; tax freedoms for the frackers and the educational crisis.

Get ready for some summer political heat.
