Gerlach Speaks To Giordano About House Committee On Benghazi Attacks

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Dom Giordano talked with Congressman Jim Gerlach, from Pennsylvania's Sixth District, on Talk Radio 1210 WPHT about  Speaker of the House John Boehner's announcement of a special House Select Committee to investigate the terrorist attacks on Benghazi in 2012.

Gerlach acknowledged that Boehner and others have been contemplating this move for months.

"With the email coming out from Ben Rhodes of the White House, which clearly was an effort by the White House not to provide these committees with all of the information they requested, that was the last straw for the speaker," he said.

He believes that more investigation needs to be done into the matter.

"There's just so many questions left unanswered. I'm tired of hearing the White House saying there's been umpteen hearings and 30,000 pages of information disseminated. The problem is you can disseminate a million pages, but if they're not answering the questions being asked, then you're not getting anywhere," Gerlach added.

Gerlach said this select committee is necessary because it has been difficult for the other committees currently investigating Benghazi to get to the facts.

"They're all very frustrated that, if they get any paper from any of the agencies, a lot of it is redacted or they think a lot of information is not included. Clearly, [it's] necessary now to really hone in on this investigation and get these questions answered," he said.

Gerlach is excited that Congressman Trey Gowdy, of South Carolina, has been named to lead the committee.

"Trey is a really talented guy. He's got a lot of prosecutorial experience at federal level. He's focused, as the Speaker said in the press release. Trey is going to be a chairman who is going to get to the answers," he said.
