Gas Prices Continue To Fall

By Justin Udo

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Motorists continue to see cheaper prices at the gas pump. Over the last two weeks, gas prices around the country have dropped by an average of 13 cents a gallon, and analysts predict the cost of filling your tank will keep going down.

AAA Mid-Atlantic says in Pennsylvania and New Jersey the price of gas could fall another five to 15 cents before Thanksgiving.

"You're also going to see the cost savings when we turn to producing the winter blend of gasoline," says Jim Lardear, a spokesman with AAA, "which is actually cheaper to produce than the gas that we see sold in the summertime."

Lardear says one of the reasons the prices at the pump keep falling is because there's a consistent decrease in the price of crude oil.

"Compared to about a year ago, we're seeing that you're saving maybe $10 or so a gallon every time you fill up your car," he says, "if you've got a 15 gallon tank."

Right now, the national average for gas is $2.94 per gallon. In the Philadelphia region, the average price is $3 a gallon.
