Classes Cancelled At Delco School After Explosion Blows Windows Out

PHILADELPHIA (CBS)—Authorities are continuing their investigation into what led to an explosion at a Delaware County school on Monday morning.

Emergency crews responded around 5:30 a.m. to the St. Coleman-John Neumann school located in the 300 block of Highland Ave. in Bryn Mawr.

School officials say before the explosion occurred administrators noticed a lack of proper heating in the building and later detected an odor of natural gas.

Chopper 3 was over the scene on Monday morning where it appeared the blast blew out some windows of the school.

A spokesperson for the school says no students were inside the building at the time of the blast and that no one was injured.

"A structural engineer will also be brought in to examine the area where the explosion took place and look for any additional issues it may have caused."

An official says the earliest possible day the school would reopen is Friday.
