Gas Leak Prompts Temporary Evacuations In Hamilton Township

HAMILTON Twp., NJ (CBS) -- Emergency crews rushed to the scene in the Mays Landing Village development after a gas leak prompted mandatory evacuations.

The Township of Hamilton Police Department posted several photos on their Facebook page showing crews on the scene at Rt. 40 and Babcock Road.

Police, fire, rescue and gas company units all responded, police say.

Authorities say the gas leak was contained about two hours later and residents were able to return to their homes.

No word on injuries at this time.
