Officials: Fence Installer Struck Gas Leak In Mercer County

HAMILTON SQUARE, N.J. (CBS) -- Officials say a fence installer struck an underground gas line which led to temporary evacuations in Mercer County Friday morning.

The incident happened at Marlon Pond Road and Sandtown Terrace in Hamilton Square, New Jersey.

According to officials, at about 8:00 a.m., a fence installer struck an underground gas line.

Crews with PSE&G were called and arrived at the scene. The police department, fire department and EMS crews were also called to the scene.

The surrounding area was evacuated as a precaution. All residents have since returned to their homes.

PSE&G crews are working to repair the line.

There were no reports of any injuries.

The incident remains under investigation.
