Fundraiser To Be Held For Roller Derby Skater Recovering From Attack

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- It was supposed to be a 10th anniversary party for the local roller derby, but now a party at the Blue Cross River Rink Friday night will be a fundraiser for a skater who's recovering from a brutal beating.
Unless you're a fan, you probably don't know Nina Knockout.
The woman and her two kids were victims of a domestic violence incident last month. Her colleagues at Roller Derby decided to raise money to assist Nina with hospital bills and the like.
The River Rink is helping too, according to spokeswoman Emma Fried-Cassorla.
"From 7 pm to 10 pm, anyone who comes and pays admission, all those admissions will go to a Go Fund Me account that was started for her."
The derby will also host a silent auction. It's a party, with a DJ spinning tunes in the middle of the rink which has been converted from ice to roller use during summer.
