Frozen Pipe Leads To Temporary Evacuation Of Abington Senior High School

ABINGTON, Pa. (CBS) -- A frozen pipe led to the temporary evacuation of a high school in Montgomery County Wednesday morning.

The pipe burst happened shortly after 8 a.m. at Abington Senior High School on Highland Avenue.

On a message posted on the school's website, the pipe burst caused flooding in the cafeteria area of the school.

The students were evacuated and were transferred to the Junior High School. The seniors returned to the school shortly after 9 a.m.

School officials say there was a frozen pipe in the sprinkler system in Cafeteria B causing flooding in that cafeteria and two adjacent Art rooms.

Cleanup is underway and classes are being held without disruption.

In Bethlehem, Freedom High School was closed Wednesday due to a pipe burst in the sprinkler system.
