Frontier Airlines Removing Controversial 'COVID Recovery Charge'

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Frontier Airlines is getting rid of a controversial new fee. Eyewitness News told you Wednesday how the airline started charging passengers a $1.59 fee each way for what it called a "COVID Recovery Charge."

Frontier said the money helped cover the cost of additional cleaning and sanitation, but the airline quickly backpedaled after passengers pointed out Frontier received money as part of the airline industry's $50 billion government bailout.
