Friends, Family Heartbroken After Teens Killed In Roosevelt Blvd. Crash
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- It was a somber gathering at the scene of where two young lives were lost.
"It wasn't suppose to happen."
Police say the 18-year-old driver of a Hyundai Sonata was rushing to the hospital to see his father when he ran a red light on Roosevelt Blvd, causing a crash that left his brother 19-year-old Osman Zeylnov, and his 16-year-old friend, Maggie Lynn Goloff dead. Maggie died at the scene. The drivers brother later died at the hospital. The force of the impact with an SUV sent the car with the teens crashing into a light pole.
"It's been really difficult to handle all of this right now," said Briana, Goloff's cousin.
Maggie Goloff's and Osman Zeylnov's friends and family members returned to the scene of the deadly accident on Friday, describing two teenagers who were full of life; lives cut far too short.
"He was always looking out for other people, that's why we're so heartbroken," said one of Osman's friends.
"She would just light up a room," Maggie's cousin remembered.
Two families are now left grieving in what investigators say began as a son trying to get to the hospital to see his father who had been robbed and beaten at gunpoint trying to deliver food, just 45 minutes before the deadly crash.
