Free, Unique Musical Experience Comes To Synagogue On Main Line

By Brad Segall

NORRISTOWN, Pa. (CBS) -- A Main Line synagogue will open its doors to the community this weekend for a unique musical experience.

Local composer Andrea Clearfield has been bringing her salon performances to various locations throughout the area and around the world for nearly three decades. On Sunday, Main Line Reform Temple in Wynnewood will host a concert featuring contemporary, folk, jazz, classical and world music all in one place. Clearfield says the performance is free and open to the public.

"The idea was to bring in diverse programming to the synagogue," she says, "so that this could then be sort of a hub for the arts, bringing the community together."

The Salon, Clearfield says, is a legendary performance series modeled after the 19th Century European Salons. She says her deep roots in the Philadelphia area allow her to draw from a diverse group of top musicians to create her lineups.
