Franklin Square To Hold Annual Fundraiser

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Tickets are still available for 'An Evening In Franklin Square' taking place Thursday, May 19. It's a fundraiser party for the park and its programming.

'An Evening in Franklin Square' is an annual event in its eighth year. But what makes this year extra special is the Philadelphia Chinese Lantern Festival that is taking place at the park. So visitors will be able to have cocktails by the lighted lanterns, dancing and a seated dinner.

There's an auction, too, where a few of the lanterns will be up for a bid.

"We think we will be auctioning off a few pandas, and may be a giraffe or two," says Amy Needle, President and CEO of Historic Philadelphia. "Every dollar that we raise or earn at Franklin Square goes back into the operation of Franklin Square and helps Historic Philadelphia, the nonprofit to operate the square. Plus, all of the free events that we do all year round."
