Four Philadelphians Receive National Prize To Help Improve The Community

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Four Philadelphians win a share of a prize of a $5 million national pot to help better their communities.
Patrick Morgan, with the Knight Foundation, says the awards help implement new ideas to attract and retain talent in cities all over the country.
"Give us your best ideas to make your city more successful, from that question 4,500 people have applied," said Morgan.
Only 38 people from across the country won. Four of them were in Philadelphia.
Mayor Jim Kenney was at the awards reception Tuesday night celebrating the winners.
"This shows that Philadelphia is truly an innovator and the winners of the awards clearly show their thinking outside the box," Kenney said.
Anuj Gupta is the manager of reading termanel market, his idea is to help people learn about different cultures through food.
"We're going to do that by hosting a year long series of shared cooking demonstrations, where we bring two communities together each time," Gupta explained.
