Former South Jersey Auto Dealership Manager Gets Prison Term For Theft

CAPE MAY COURT HOUSE, N.J. (AP) — The former manager of a southern New Jersey auto dealership is headed to state prison for stealing more than $400,000 from the business.

Cape May County prosecutors say 53-year-old Monica Schaffer, of Somers Point, recently received a four-year sentence. She had pleaded guilty in May to a theft charge.

Prosecutors say Schaffer stole the money over a three-year period while she worked at the dealership in Middle Township. But they have not disclosed what the money was used for or how it was taken.

Besides the prison term, Schaffer was also ordered to pay more than $422,000 in restitution.
