Former Philly Lawyer Admits To Taking More Than Half Of A Million Dollars From Clients

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – A former Philadelphia lawyer plead guilty today to one count of wire fraud in connection with a scheme to defraud clients of the legal firm in which he was employed.

Gomer Thomas Williams, 54, was an attorney and associate with the law firm Spector Gadon & Rosen.

Between the years 2007-2012 Williams took more than $500,000 from four of his trust and estate clients by diverting funds from their accounts into his personal accounts. He also over-billed his clients for legal work that he never completed.

Williams reportedly would transfer funds from clients' accounts to pay his own personal expenses, including his mortgage.

U.S. District Court Judge Legrome Davis has scheduled a sentencing hearing for June 23.

Williams faces a potential advisory sentencing of 33 to 41 months in prison, a $100 special assessment, a possible fine, and up to three years of supervised release.
