Former Eagles LB Casey Matthews Signs With Vikings

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The Minnesota Vikings announced that they agreed to terms on a deal with former Eagles linebacker Casey Matthews. The former Eagle was an unrestricted free agent and seemingly lost a role with the team as the Eagles acquired two inside linebackers this off-season and with DeMeco Ryans set to return next season following an injury.

Matthews filled in for Ryans last season as he split duties with Emmanuel Acho.

Matthews spent four seasons with the Eagles after being drafted in the fourth round of the 2011 NFL Draft.

The Oregon product played in all 16 games each of the four years he spent with the Eagles. Matthews will now go to the Vikings where he will have the opportunity to play against his brother, Clay Matthews (Packers), at least two times a year.

Matthews had his best season in 2014 recording 53 total tackles, 1.5 sacks, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery.
