Former Cape May Boy Scout Leader Arrested For Sexual Contact With Minor

CAPE MAY COUNTY, N.J., (CBS) -- The Cape May County Police Department announced the arrest of Frank L. "Sandy" Thomson. Thomson, 68, was arrested for aggravated sexual contact, luring/enticing a child and two counts of endangering the welfare of a child.

Thomson, a resident of Cape May City, was serving as an Assistant Scout Master with a Boy Scout Troop in West Cape May at the time of the arrest. He also served as the treasurer of the Corinthian Yacht Club.

According to authorities, Thomson was "grooming," an 11-year-old boy for sexual purposes by purchasing expensive gifts. Officials say that another young male was sexually assaulted by Thomson several years ago.

Thomson is currently in custody at the Cape May County Correctional Center with his bail set at $175,000.
