Food Truck Review: No. 46

TYSON BEES

Asian-Mexican fusion is a clear food truck trend these days. Some do it better than others. Tyson Bees does it very well. You'll find this colorful truck tucked into a lot adjacent to Penn's football stadium. Not easy to get to if you're not on foot, but worth searching for a parking spot.

The Korean BBQ short rib taco was outstanding. Sliced up tender short rib meat, sprinkled with red cabbage and spiced up with vinegary kim chi. A bargain at $5, although the rice-to-meat ratio is a bit out of balance.

You should also try to basil chicken quesadilla for $5, and the kimchi hot dogs, spicy enough to make your head sweat. You can cure that with a $2 Thai ice tea.

They're on Twitter at @Tysonbeesphilly, although they haven't put up an entry since 2013. Likewise, the website tysonbees.com seems to have been hijacked. So forget about social media with these guys. Just find your way to 33rd and Spruce.
