Food Truck Review: No. 22

GRUBAHOLICS
33rd and Market

This red and gold truck bills itself proudly as "Home of the Jerk Chicken Cheesesteak!" Exclamation point and all. Now, we've probably tried cheesesteaks from various 200 joints around town over the decades (beef and chicken), but this seemed like a new twist, so, sure, we were game.

So we rolled out nine bucks for the sandwich – a hefty price for street food. And it was a hefty sandwich, about the size of a Wawa Classic. Alas, that's where the good news ended.

The roll was doughy and perhaps a day or two past its prime. The chicken was okay – but seemed a bit overcooked in some places, undercooked in others. The jerk sauce, which was what should have made it distinctive, tasted like bottled marinade from the supermarket that you'd throw on leftovers.

Not the worst food truck experience we've had, but certainly in the bottom few. "Grub addicts are welcome" at Grubaholics, but we won't be going back.

Score: 61/100
