Food Truck Hunt: No. 18

CHEESE E. WAGON
Market and 33rd (in front of the Drexel Law Building)

Well, here's a mixed review. We loved some of their offerings, didn't like another one at all. The Wagon – as its name implies – has a menu centered on cheese. The prices are reasonable -- $7 for a thick, gooey grilled cheese sandwich.

Because every sandwich is only as good as the bread, credit Cheese E. Wagon for starting with a sourdough that's tasty enough to be good on its own and strong enough to support the cheese. Lots of cheese. Thick, gooey cheese.

We loved the Triple Grilled – a strong mix of mozzarella, cheddar and Monterrey jack, accented by a tomato. And we sweated through a spicy jalapeno popper grilled cheese.

The disappointment was the Mac and Smoked Cheddar Cheese, a $3 side dish. For a truck with the word "cheese" in its title, the Wagon came up short here. It started with overcooked noodles, and tasted way too much like a box of Kraft macaroni and cheese that had burnt at the bottom of the pot.

Score: 87 for the sandwiches, 69 for the mac 'n cheese – round it out to a 78/100
