Food Shopping An Easter Tradition At Port Richmond Meat Market

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Many Christians are doing their Easter holiday shopping. For many people, shopping at Swiacki Meats in Port Richmond is an Easter tradition.

"It's unbelievable; Easter is our biggest holiday. Bigger than Christmas," says Cathy Swiacki, one of the owners of this family business.

"There are other little shops, I mean this is Port Richmond and this is the Polish community of Philadelphia, so it's like the Italian Market, you travel around and you have your favorite stores."

Customers don't mind waiting in lines buying goodies for their holiday feast -- in fact, they say it's part of the tradition.

"Yes! You just -- like, I snuck out of work early so I could hopefully get into a short line."

Speaking of traditional foods, what makes for a Polish Easter?

"Kielbasi, babka, chrischickies, you name it -- sauerkraut."
