Food Bank Of South Jersey Celebrates Its 30th Anniversary

By John McDevitt

PENNSAUKEN, NJ (CBS) -- The Food Bank of South Jersey is celebrating it's 30th Anniversary.

Since 1985, the Food Bank of South Jersey has been distributing food to those in need and provides nutrition education and cooking courses to help individuals find sustainable ways to improve their lives.

The organization's Chief Development Officer Tom Sims says many people visit monthly to make ends meet.

"Who are working, they are working sometimes more than one job, trying to keep food on the table, but they have competing priorities. They got either medicine, utilities or housing, very expensive."

Last year the organization provided food to nearly 200,000 South Jersey residents.

Volunteers and donations are always welcome.
