Flyers Trade Defenseman Kimmo Timonen To Blackhawks

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- On Friday night, the Flyers announced that they have trade defenseman Kimmo Timonen to the Chicago Blackhawks.

Ron Hextall announced that the Flyers would receive a second round draft pick for 2015 as well as a conditional draft pick for 2016.

Timonen has not yet played this season after being diagnosed with blood clots last summer. He was recently cleared to return to the ice and had been skating with the Flyers for the last few weeks.

Timonen has played in 1,092 NHL games over 15 seasons. He was acquired from Nashville, along with Scott Hartnell, in 2007.

The Flyers and Blackhawks will square off on March 25th, 2015 at the Wells Fargo Center.
