Flyers Recall Goalie Anthony Stolarz Following Steve Mason Injury
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Steve Mason went down with a lower body injury on Sunday in the second period as the Flyers defeated the Capitals. In response to the injury, the Flyers announced on Monday that were recalling goaltender Anthony Stolarz from the Phantoms.
The move marks Stolarz first call to the Flyers and the NHL.
In his first season as a professional, Stolarz is currently 7-10-1 with a 3.04 goals against average and a .911 saves percentage through 22 appearances.
His first win came on November 21st and was a shutout in which he stopped 36 shots.
Stolarz, 21, is a native of Jackson, NJ. He was selected by the Flyers in the 45th overall in the 2012 NHL Draft.
He appeared in one preseason game with the Flyers prior to this season. In that game, Stolarz stopped 29 of the 31 shots he faced.
Stolarz will be available for action on Tuesday when the Flyers travel to take on Montreal.
