Flyers Look For Revenge Against Florida Tonight

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The Flyers will be on home ice tonight as they take on the Florida Panthers in South Philadelphia.

These two teams just played on Saturday down in Florida with the Flyers losing 2-1. In an odd quirk, the last four games the Panthers have played have all had final scores of 2-1. Panthers have gone 2-0-2 during that stretch. Almost every game is low scoring for the Panthers as they have just 15 goals scored in their 10 games. They have allowed 20.

Overall this season, Florida is 4-2-4 and they have picked up a point in road game they have played this season, going 2-0-4 away from home.

KYW's Matt Leon spoke with Sam Carchidi of the Philadelphia Inquirer about the loss of Raffl and tonight's match-up.

The Flyers come into tonight with a 5-5-2 mark. They picked up a win last time out on Tuesday as they beat Edmonton, 4-1. They have now won three straight at home. In that game on Tuesday, the Flyers did absorb a key loss as forward Michael Raffl suffered a lower-body injury that will keep him sidelined for six weeks.

Look for Chris Vandevelde to take his place on the top line for the Flyers, alongside Jakub Voracek and Claude Giroux.

Steve Mason is expected to get the start tonight in net. This will be his third straight start. He's allowed just three goals in the last two.
