Flyers Ink Jason Akeson And Ray Emery To One Year Deals

PHILADELPHIA, PA (CBS) -- NHL Free Agency kicked off yesterday and the Flyers have brought a few players back into the fold. The team announced today that they have resigned forward Jason Akeson. The young forward only appeared in the final regular season game for the Flyers, but also played in each of their seven postseason games.

The deal Akeson signed is a one-year, two way deal. Akeson, 23, tallied two goals and three points during the Flyers first round loss to the Rangers.

Akeson's future potential was shown as a member of the Phantoms. He scored 24 goals and racked up 40 assists this past season for the Flyers' affiliate. Akeson has led the Phantoms in scoring each of the last three seasons.

The team announced on Tuesday that netminder Ray Emery would also be back on a one-year deal. Emery served as the primary backup to Steve Mason last season and appeared in 28 games for the team.

Emery boasted a 2.96 goals against average and .903 save percentage to go along with two shutouts. He finished the year with a 9-12-2 record.

The team also added goaltender Rob Zepp who has spent the last seven seasons playing in Germany. Zepp, 32, has signed a one-year, two way deal with the team.
