Flyers Host Kimmo Timonen And The Chicago Blackhawks Tonight

By Matt Leon

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) --- The fading Flyers return to home ice tonight as they welcome the Chicago Blackhawks to South Philadelphia.

The Flyers have lost 8 of 9 and they went winless (0-2-2) on their recently completed Canadian road trip. With just 8 games left in the regular season, the Flyers are 11 points out of the final playoff spot in the East.

This will be a special night as Kimmo Timonen returns to Philadelphia. Of course the Flyers traded the veteran defenseman to Chicago last month. He had spent more than seven years in Philadelphia. So far in nine games with the Blackhawks, Timonen has yet to record a point and he is -2.

This will be the second and final meeting between these two teams this season. The Blackhawks won the first in Chicago back on October 21st, 4-0.

KYW's Matt Leon spoke with Sam Carchidi of the Philadelphia Inquirer about Timonen's return and the match-up with Chicago.
