Flood Watch In Effect For Parts Of The Region Over The Weekend

By Kate Bilo

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Not the sunniest forecast for a summer weekend as a potent storm arrives from the west, bringing with it lots of rain and gusty winds.

A Flood Watch will be in effect late Saturday for Philadelphia and western suburbs, including Chester, Montgomery, Delaware, Berks, Lehigh and Lancaster counties in Pennsylvania and New Castle County, Delaware.

Saturday will start out with cloud cover, but rain will develop through midday to our west and gradually fill in across the area during the afternoon and evening. The steadiest of the rain will likely be from the dinner hour on into the overnight, and a few gusty thunderstorms may develop as well. Winds will gust to 30 mph and temperatures on Saturday will only reach the low to mid 70's.

On Sunday, a few lingering morning showers and then I'm hopeful we'll clear things out and see more sunshine through the afternoon, as temperatures head back to the upper 70's. So outdoor weekend plans would be best made later on Sunday - Saturday is an indoor chores or movie theater kind of day!
