Flags To Be Lowered In NJ For Oregon College Victims

TRENTON, N.J. (AP) — Flags at all state buildings in New Jersey will be lowered to half-staff on Tuesday to honor the nine people killed last week in a shooting at Oregon community college.

Gov. Chris Christie signed the executive order on Monday.

Christie said it was appropriate to recognize the victims of the "senseless and devastating acts of violence" that occurred Thursday at Umpqua Community College in Roseburg, Oregon.

Eight students and a teacher were killed by a gunman who killed himself after a shootout with police.
