First Man-Made Surf Park In The US Set To Open Friday

AUSTIN, Texas (CBS) -- If you call yourself a surfer there's a new place you'll be able to catch some gnarly waves: Austin, Texas.

That may sound strange now but on Friday, the Lone Star State will become the first in the US to open a man-made surf park.

According to their website, NLand Surf Park is able to make thousands of waves a day in three different difficulties based on a surfer's level of experience.

The "Bay" experience is for kids or new surfers who are still trying to get their surfer feet under them. Opting for the "Inside" provides a longer ride where surfers can hone their skills. Lastly, the "Reef" is for the pros who can hang with steeper waves that will challenge even the seasoned surfers.
