Firefighter Injured In Two-Alarm Blaze In Wilmington

WILMINGTON, Del. (CBS) – A firefighter suffered an arm injury while battling a two-alarm fire in Wilmington.

The fire broke out just after 4 p.m. on Wednesday in a vacant structure at the 600 block of North Harrison Street.

Officials say the fire extended to two adjacent dwellings.  About 62 fire and EMS personnel responded to the scene.

A firefighter suffered a non-life threatening arm injury and was treated and released from Wilmington Hospital.

No other injuries were reported.

The fire was placed under control shortly before 5 p.m.

Officials say the original fire building sustained significant fire damage and the two adjacent buildings sustained both smoke and fire damage.

All buildings are being evaluated by the Wilmington Department of License & Inspections.

Displaced residents of the occupied damaged units are being provided housing by family or friends.

The Wilmington Fire Marshal's Office responded to investigate the cause of the fire.

The fire investigation is active and ongoing at this time.
